World Book Night, April 23

Past event
Apr 23, 2014, 6 PM

April 23rd is World Book Night (and Shakespeare's birthday), so in an ambitious campaign to help promote reading, a half million free books in more than 6,000 towns and cities across America will be giving away free books to light or non-readers, or to those without means or access to a printed book. The Waterbury Public Library is very proud to be one of the many World Book Night "givers"!

On April 23, starting at 6 PM, the Library will be giving away 20 copies of "Where'd You Go, Bernadette" by Maria Semple to "light" or "non-readers". Books will be given away on a first-come, first-served basis. "Where'd You Go, Bernadette" has received lots of critical acclaim - check out a synopsis and some reviews here: http://idreambooks.com/Where-d-You-Go-Bernadette-A-Novel-by-Maria-Semple/reviews/6041

So, if you know someone who doesn't read much, or doesn't have access to free, printed books, please send them to the Waterbury Public Library for a free paperback edition of "Where'd You Go Bernadette"on April 23rd - guaranteed for a good laugh, AND a good story!
