Vermont Street Medics is hosting another gear drive for the Barre/Montpelier houseless population. Sunday, September 13th, 10 AM - 12 PM in front of Montpelier City Hall. We'll be along side Pancakes for the People distributing free coffee and pancakes.
Thanks so much for all of you who contributed to our gear drive earlier this summer. We have continued to distribute your donations to those in need throughout the season. We've given out enough tents, sleeping bags, and other survival supplies that we need to come to again!
As the season shifts into colder weather and looking at a winter of ongoing concern around COVID-19 and it's impacts on those without shelter, we want to extend another request for some winter specific gear.
We are looking for:
-Tents (ideally smaller ones)
-Tarps
-Sleeping pads
-Sleeping bags
-Hand and foot warmers
-Wool socks
-Gloves, mitts, scarves, winter hats
-Elderberry syrup and other cold season remedies
-Baby powder/ talcum powder (for wet feet)
-Chocolate, honey straws and other sweet treats
Our neighbors need functional gear for people who folks who have to move around frequently. Please donate items in the condition that you would give to a friend. Any medical supplies should be unopened and within the expiry date.
