Opening Reception Friday Afternoon at Crowell Gallery

Past event
Sep 4, 2020, 4 to 6 PM

There will be an opening reception for Brookline artist Martha Werman's show "Honoring an Everyday Object" on Friday September 4th from 4:00 - 6:00 PM.

The show, which will be up through the month of September whenever the library is open, features colorful paintings and drawings by Werman, spanning several years.

The artists says "I find I use my eye continuously in my environment: the interiors of houses, walls, floors, stairs, and plants, even desiccated vegetables, all become elements of geometry enhanced by shadow and light. Random juxtapositions catch my attention. What I choose to paint becomes exciting, as in creating a concept and nurturing it (e.g. making a series) or, recently, when drawing/painting portraits. I challenge myself to share with the viewer the novelty of such an image to awaken in him or her a new perspective."

The reception will be outdoors on the library lawn, please enter from the gallery side (past the Shakespeare Garden). 5 guests allowed in the gallery at one time. Please wear a mask and distance while socializing.
