Bristol Black Lives Matter Demonstration Update

Past event
Sep 3, 2020, 6:30 to 11:30 PM

Hi!

As some of you may know, The Black Perspective, a racial justice organization based in Chittenden County, has been organizing daily protests in Burlington for the last week. The protests were sparked by the shooting of Jacob Blake by officers from the Kenosha Police Department, but they have continued on 24/7 with the demand that Burlington Police Officers Joseph Corrow, Jason Bellavance, and Cory Campbell be fired for their use of excessive force and brutality. The organizers have stated that protests will continue until the demands are met. This week, as we presume the protests will still be happening on Thursday, instead of gathering in Bristol for our Black Lives Matter Demonstration, we highly encourage anyone who can to go to Burlington and support the Black Perspective in their fight to make Burlington a safer place for the Black Community. The march starts at 6:30 at Battery Park and proceeds to City Hall. People will also be gathering during the day at Battery Park. If you are unable to go, people can still gather in Bristol, but we encourage you to create signs that show your support for The Black Perspective and their demands. More info can be found about the Black Perspective and the protests on their website www.theblackperspective.org and the Burlington Free Press.

Thank you!!
