Local Vaudeville troupe perseveres despite global pandemic
Greensboro, VT- Entertainment was one of the first industries to suffer under Covid-19 related shutdowns last March, and Vermont Vaudeville’s annual spring show went the way of many great events to be cancelled. But, here in the fall of 2020, the troupe has figured out a way to present their unique brand of comedy, circus and music in a safe and exciting new format.
Vermont Vaudeville’s fall production: “Hindsight Is So 2020” will take place on September 24, 25, 26, and 27, at 2 and 6PM, outdoors at the Highland Center for the Arts in Greensboro, Tickets and information are available at www.VermontVaudeville.com
For the past 12 years, Vermont Vaudeville has mounted an original production every six months in the Historic Hardwick Townhouse, for sold-out crowds of all ages. Featuring internationally touring guest acts as well as the core cast’s endlessly inventive take on local humor, the biannual weekend has become a mainstay of the region’s cultural life. The production team, faced with the possibility of another six months without a show, have put their creative minds together to make live theater happen safely.
Audience members can expect the same hilarity and mayhem they are accustomed to experiencing at a Vermont Vaudeville show, but in the safest possible environment. The show is outdoors, with zero-contact ticketing and check-in. Each family group or “pod” will have their own private plot on the Highland Arts Center’s lawn, and be asked to wear masks whenever they are not seated. There will be no intermission, to help keep audience contact to a minimum, but bathrooms in the art center will be available. To accommodate safe audience sizes, the producers have added extra shows, but as always, tickets will sell out, so attendees are encouraged to buy early.
The Miso Hungry Ramen food truck will be serving their famous authentic Japanese cuisine starting one hour before show time, and the Highland Center’s bar will be serving a variety of beverages.
