Astronomy Event at the Library!

Get a guide to the stars at the free Jeudevine Library Astronomy event on April 26, Saturday at 3 PM. The Northeast Kingdom Astronomy Foundation (NKAF) will work with all ages in their program: “Building Community through Astronomy: Intergenerational STEM Learning.”

Younger children and their accompanying adults will learn about astronomy together through fun, age appropriate activities for kids while also addressing science and learning topics that will interest the adults. Families with teens and unaccompanied adults will work together to build a Galileoscope while learning about tabletop optics. The Galileoscope will be added to the library collection and will be available for checkout. Weather permitting, there will also be a solar telescope set up for participants to safely view the sun.

Learn about the planets and our solar system with local amateur astronomers from the Northern Skies Observatory in Peacham and area teachers. NKAF’s mission is to enhance science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) by promoting the study of astronomy by students and the public.

This event, sponsored by the Vermont Community Foundation, is free and open to the public.

The program will be held at the Memorial Building across from the library at 20 Church St. in Hardwick. Parking and access for people with disabilities at the side entrance (the former Police
Dept. entrance). For more information call the Jeudevine Library at 472-5948.
