Join us for an evening of ancient Baul music and a Lebanese farm picnic in our beautiful apple orchard! In the after math of the recent catastrophic explosion in Beirut, we want to express our solidarity with the people of Lebanon, and a portion of the proceeds will go to benefit grassroots organizers in Beirut who are running community kitchens and replacing doors and windows for families in desperate need.
The deeply meditative and soul healing concert will feature ancient, traditional Baul music performed by Pavrita Mehta and Polash Chowdury. Hailing from India and Bangladesh, Pavrita and Polash have been studying and practicing the ancient philosophical and oral traditions of Baul Fakiri for many years. They will sing as well as play traditional instruments such as the one stringed ektara, the 2 stringed dotara, the tanpura, esraj and duggi.
The picnic dinner will feature farm fresh ingredients grown at Cate Hill Orchard, and will include farmstead sheep cheeses, from our own flock; wood fired flatbread; and lots of fresh organic veggies grown on the farm.
We will end the evening with a report direct from Beirut, from our friend Dima Mabsout.
$25-75 sliding scale suggested donation. Limited seating, to reserve your spot sign up here: https://catehillorchard.com/product/farm-sing-donation/ . Bring your own picnic blanket, bug repellent, and don't forget your facemask! In case of rain, the event will be cancelled.
