I was glad and relieved to see Rebecca's post about the lawn signs; I have a hard time knowing how to start that kind of conversation. I'm therefore glad to be attending this upcoming event -- the Rutland NAACP is holding an online workshop to help everyone deepen their skills for difficult conversations, such as those about racism, sexism, and other "isms". This will include techniques for interrupting, engaging with, and discussing acts of discrimination or bias that you witness or experience. Facilitators include Bor Yang, Director of the Vermont Human Rights Comission; Janae Due, Assistant Director of the Middlebury College Anderson Freeman Resource Center, offering support and programming for queer and/or transgender students; and Renee Wells, Director of Education for Equity and Inclusion at Middlebury College. Free but registration is required. https://naacprutland.org/2020/08/12/difficult-conversations/
