The St. Johnsbury Band will perform a summer concert Monday evening August 17th in front of the Caledonia County Courthouse on Main Street in St. Johnsbury at 7:00 PM, weather permitting. The band will use the grounds of Courthouse Park but not the bandstand to meet social distancing requirements.

Recent research revealed that Courthouse Park is the same spot that the band performed its opening concert for the 1920 season; 100 years ago as the area recovered from the Spanish Flu. Many people enjoyed the concert from their cars and buggies parked along Main Street. The band will perform RB Hall's march 'S.I.B.A.' just liked the band did in that opening 1920 concert as reported by the Caledonian Record.

Newer selections such as Rogers and Hammerstein 'The King and I,' 'Okalahoma!' and a first time band performance of 'Crazy Little Thing Called Love' by Freddie Mercury. The 'American Red Cross March' will be played to honor today's front line medical workers, just as it originally honored those of World War I.

Please park along Main Street for the concert, or wear a mask and social distance per Gov. Scott's orders. If you do not fell well or have symptoms stay home. For more information e-mail manager@stjohnsburyband.org or call 802-274-4053
