Yes, saffron!
From Calabash Gardens in Wells River VT:
We are opening up our planting party as an educational event for those of you wanting to know more about saffron and those hoping to get some real world experience growing saffron on a production level. We have been growing a small test plot for three years and have decided to expand as we have had decent success.
We will be planting a half acre of saffron this Labor Day weekend, starting on Thursday the 3rd-Sunday the 6th ending with a small bash on Monday the 7th.
We ware looking for 25 people to help each shift, from 8am-12pm with a one hour break for lunch which we will provide and then a second shift from 1pm-5pm culminating in dinner all four days.
Each volunteer will have a templates t so the planting happens as systematically as possible.
Masks will be required and we will be socially distanced in the field as we plant. If you don't have a mask there will be some available.
We have plenty of camping areas if you would like to pitch a tent and participate in multiple days, or you're most welcome to come in for a single shift.
Due to COVID that we have accurate numbers so do please make sure to specify what shifts you want to work so we can schedule accordingly.
