I am having a benefit yard sale for the Jeudivine Memorial Library expansion fund on Friday, 8/28, 9am-5pm and Saturday, 8/29, 8am-2pm. We continue to downsize and find stuff. I believe that every little bit helps. We will also match up to $250 from the sale or donations. Some furniture, games, books, cookbooks, dvds, videos and much more! 83 W. Church Street, in Hardwick, home of Mary Wheeler & Earl Braddee. The sale is entirely by donation and all proceeds will go to the library expansion project. I have been amazed and thankful to everyone who has worked and donated already to the expansion. At the yard sale, please wear a mask to protect yourself and others, social distance as much as possible.
The Jeudivine Library has served 4 generations of our family and we are also neighbors! We voted in support of the bond for the library expansion because we believe strongly in supporting this amazing community resource. Libraries are one of the few institutions that do not discriminate. It provides availability of services to all people regardless of economic resources. I believe a large part of the racial disparity in our country is due to socio-economic challenges. Libraries level the playing field just a little by providing free access to resources and materials.
Hardwick is fortunate to have such a beautiful building and it belongs to us all! Let's keep it growing, healthy and accessible to all people. Unfortunately, right now the Library is not ADA compliant and not truly accessible to people with physical disabilities and this includes our older population. WE have the power and resources to change this and make it right for everyone! Do what you can, with what you have.
