Please join the Milton Inclusion and Diversity Initiative in our next online discussion series!
The Milton Selectboard and Schoolboard have unanimously passed a resolution to "reaffirm the commitment to anti-racist education for the Milton Town School District's students, faculty, staff, and administration, as well as the Town of Milton's Selectboard, Town leadership, and police officers, in an endeavor to address systemic racism and foster a community of racial equity and inclusion." What does this mean and how do we hold our leaders accountable for this commitment? It is our responsibility as citizens to shape the culture of our rural communities and to make sure they are welcoming for all.
In our discussion group, we will work toward a better understanding of racism and antiracism and figure out action steps for our communities. Our next study text will be How To Be An Antiracist by Ibram X. Kendi. We will incorporate resources from local and national news sources, podcasts, films, etc. and will have discussions in an open and relaxed atmosphere (on Zoom!). Meetings will be on Thursday nights from 7:15 to 8:15 PM - let's learn and grow together! Please contact amandaspectordvm@gmail.com if you are interested in participating.
