Firewood Processing Bee

Past event
Aug 8, 2020, 9 AM to 4 PM

The Craftsbury Energy Committee and the Neighbors to Neighbors group are hosting a Firewood Processing Bee on Sat., 8/8, from 9 - 4 pm on the north end of the Dustan Field parking lot. We have 6 cords of donated log-length wood that needs to be processed in order to dry for use.
The firewood will eventually go to low-income households in the area who may not be able to afford firewood for this upcoming winter season.
We are looking for volunteers to help cut, split and stack the wood.
We are also looking for people to bring log splitters and experienced and safe people with chainsaws.

Since we are a town-sanctioned group with liability concerns re. general safety and COVID safety, here are the guidelines that we need to abide by:

- Only those experienced using a chainsaw can operate a chainsaw. Please bring your own chainsaw. Chainsaw users need to wear chaps, ear protection, and an eye safety shield at all times.
- Ear protection recommended for log splitting operators
- Bring gloves, if needed
- COVID related:
- bring your own lunch and fluids
- masks need to be worn at all times
- practice physical distancing of 6 ft. whenever possible

Our energy committee will have two people that are in charge of safety supervision with a safety briefing in the beginning. All questions and concerns need to be directed through them.

A BIG Thank You! to the Craftsbury Outdoor Center for donating the truck-load of wood and to the LaBounty family loggers for delivering the wood!!!
