The Calais/E. Montpelier Historical Meeting will be held on Tue., April 15 at the E. Calais Rec. Center, starting with a Potluck at 6nPM. It is going to be a very busy evening, so we will start eating at 6. The main program will be Erlene Leonard talking about the history of East Calais, and no one (now) knows it any better than Erlene. There will be sugar on snow served at some point during the evening, when Paul Cate has it boiled down to the "just right" stage. Donations will be accepted to cover the cost of the syrup, and is usually about $2.50 per person.
There will also be a guest speaker, who will address both the Calais and E. Montpelier membership with updates about the Vermont Civil War Hemlocks Encampment , which will be held at the Morse Farm in E. Montpelier on the week-end of June 14 and 15. Mike Tierney, from Montpelier, is the organizer of the event and is doing an awesome job. He will update us about all of the plans for the event, and answer questions members may have. The planning of this event started in early Jan., and since Mike had made connections with the Hemlocks at the same time we were, it all came together very nicely, and with much/most thanks to Mike.
I think this covers the agenda for Tue. night, and it will be busy, AND fun, and probably entertaining. Feel free to contact me, if you have any questions.
