On Saturday August 1st at 7:30 PM, the final performance of Paul Oakley Stovall's new play "Immediate Family" ZOOMs from Chandler. In this play, African-American siblings and half-siblings gather for a wedding, with homophobia and race and religion in the sub-text. Playwright Stovall, George Washington in the touring production of "Hamilton", has set the play in the Hyde Park neighborhood of Chicago, which he knows well.

The play is directed by Dayenne Walters (Roxbury, MA), the grandmother in last summer's memorable production of "All Together Now" at Chandler. Her wide-ranging and thought-provoking interview with Mr. Stovall is posted on the "Immediate Family" section of the website, including his comments about the card game which brings to a head the conflict among the older siblings. Taking advantage of the ZOOM platform, Ms. Walters' cast members come from across the Northeast and from Texas!

Immediately after the performance, there will be a live talk back with director Walters and her cast members, and playwright Stovall will join in too. Audience members can mail in questions or speak directly to any of them.
