Community Discussion of Ta-Nehisi Coates' Book

Past event

As a community we can learn a lot from the important link that Wanda shared. Another way to educated ourselves is to read about experiences different from our own; for example "Between the World and Me" by Ta-Nehisi Coates. This book is written as a letter from a father to his adolescence son. Coates shares the story of his awakening to the truth about his place in the world through a series of revelatory experiences....

We borrowed many copies from libraries nearby to make this book accessible to anyone who is interested to read it. And at 7 pm on Monday the 27th of July (this Monday) we are having an open discussion at the library for anyone who would like to join in. We plan to be outside if possible, with masks and distancing.

Now is an excellent time to learn more about the experience of growing up black in our nation. "Between the World and Me" clearly illuminates the past, bracingly confronts our present and offers a transcendent vision for a way forward." Join us, or stop by the library to check out a copy off the book.
