A Mental Health Approach to Going Back to School

Past event
Aug 12, 2020, 7 to 8:30 PM

The COVID-19 pandemic spurred a drastic change in education when schools shut down and went online. The shift left parents, teachers, and students grappling with adapting to a new style of learning in a world that will never be the same.

While the focus of the change was on physical health, the mental wellbeing of students became a complex case study: some students flourished as they were no longer confined to school hours to complete work. They had more play time, could sleep in, and could eat when they're hungry. At the same time, many students experienced increased feelings of loneliness, isolation, fear, and discontent with their school learning.

It's this mental health that deserves more attention, and is the focus of this workshop. How do we help students cope with a quick-changing world overburdened by fear, anger, and the unknown?

This workshop will look at a unique approach to education and working with students to facilitate healing and growth. With dedication and intention, schools can redirect the trauma of recent events into an opportunity for evolution. Learn about this approach and its application in this hour and a half online training.
