Book Discussion Series Sponsored by Jeudevine Library

Past event
Aug 6, 2020, 6:30 to 7:30 PM

Join the Jeudevine Library at the Atkins Field Pavilion for a book discussion series starting on Thursday, Aug 6 at 6:30 pm. The first book in the series is STATION ELEVEN by Emily St. John Mandel which describes a troupe of actors touring the country in the aftermath of a catastrophic flu epidemic. The Washington post writes that it is "a surprisingly beautiful story of human relationships amid devastation." Given what the world is currently experiencing the book has a lot to say about the human condition.

Free copies of the book are available to the first 12 people who sign-up and commit to attending the discussion. The discussion will be led by Jerry Schneider. Attendees are asked to bring their own chairs and to wear a mask. People will be sitting spaced out 6 feet apart.

There will be two more books in the series. THE BOTANY OF DESIRE by Michael Pollan will be discussed on Thursday, Aug. 27. The third book is Erik Larson's IN THE GARDEN OF BEASTS on Thursday, Sept. 17.

The series is funded by a grant from the National Science Foundation called Pushing the Limits.

If you would like to sign up for any of the three discussion call the Jeudevine Library at 472-5948.
