"These rates are not affordable. We acknowledge they are not affordable. But at the same time we can't put a company out of business." That's what Green Mountain Care Board chair Kevin Mullin said last year as he approved double-digit increases in the cost of our health insurance.
Now, in the middle of a pandemic, Blue Cross and MVP are proposing yet again to raise rates in Vermont.
This is the reality of our privatized healthcare system, where the interests of everyday people are up against the power of entire industries designed to make money off of our bodies.
Our message to Chairman Mullin and Governor Scott: Put the health insurance industry out of business by expanding Medicaid to everyone as a public good.
Join us on July 21st to bring that message to the Green Mountain Care Board's public hearing on the cost of health insurance: https://bit.ly/38jo6OZ RSVP at www.workerscenter.org
