In these interesting times, we need not feel isolated or despairing. Finding ways to connect with others through on-line groups can be not just a life-line, but an inspiration! At the Springfield UU Meetinghouse, we have launched four groups, "Who Will We Be Post Pandemic?" which have been meeting on Zoom twice a month since April.

The groups offer an opportunity for friendship, support and spiritual growth, in an open, non-coercive environment that allows us to explore the challenges and the gifts of this pandemic time. These groups are facilitated by a trained leader and have a set of relational ground rules to create a safe, respectful environment. The groups are interfaith, open to everyone, and have become an important touch stone for their members. In the words of participants:

"Being part of this informative group of people has helped me to process both the present and future impact of Covid 19 in a warm and supportive environment." - Toni Streeter

"Participating in small group sessions addressing the personal impacts of the coronavirus pandemic has eased my sense of isolation, even though everyone's reactions are different, depending on their personality and situation."- Dick Andrews

"I really value the time together in our little group, we really love, respect and genuinely care for one another, we feel safe to share what's on our minds and in our hearts. I feel the compassion, good humor and support of each one and always learn something new." - Gretchen McCabe

If You're interested, You're invited to our Open House on Zoom to the group that meets on Wednesday, July 15 from 3 to 4:15, facilitated by Rev. Mellen Kennedy and Sharon Mueller. In each meeting, we explore a different spiritual practice such as gratitude, forgiveness, being in nature, prayer. In this particular session, we'll explore the practice of meditation. Current research demonstrates the value of meditation for reducing stress and blood pressure, improving sleep and so many more factors. Many of the world's religions have meditation practices that help us learn to center and calm ourselves. In the group we'll do some short meditation practice to help us not just cope but thrive in these challenging times, followed by discussion. (Join us via Zoom: online at https://us02web.zoom.us/j/6130779853?pwd=bkc2cUltQlhYUU5YME1aaHlNTGtJdz09or by phone +1 646 558 8656; Meeting ID: 613 077 9853; Password: 082077 )

This will be an opportunity just to try it out and see what it's like. If You can't make the Wednesday time slot, let us know and we'll find another opportunity. Wishing You all the best as You find your way through this interesting time. Hope You'll join us or another supportive on-line group, as we explore how we can create a beautiful, just, compassionate, sustainable post pandemic world together.
