The mysteries of the Shipwrecks of Lake Champlain will be featured on Sunday, April 13 at 2 PM at the Memorial Building in Hardwick. With over 300 wrecks in its dark, cold waters, Lake Champlain has witnessed feat of heroism and terrible tragedies. Adam Kane of the Lake Champlain Maritime Museum relates some of Lake Champlain’s most harrowing shipwreck stories from the Revolutionary War to the present day.
This talk will take a memorable tour through slides, drawings, and video of what lies beneath the waves by Adam Kane. Mr. Kane is the executive director of the Fairbanks Museum and Planetarium in St. Johnsbury. He was previously an underwater archaeologist at the Lake Champlain Maritime Museum in Ferrisburg. Trained at Texas A&M University’s Nautical Archaeology Program, he helped direct the Maritime Museum’s many underwater archaeology projects. His book, The Western River Steamboat, was published by Texas A&M University Press in 2004.
