I am offering a 2 hour Wild Edible and Medicinal Plant workshop in Winooski on EARTH DAY - Tuesday, April 22nd from 5:45 - 7:45. Join us on an adventure along the Winooski River, beginning and ending at Purple Shutter Herbs, 7 West Canal Street, Winooski, VT.

My focus will be common "weeds" that are also delicious and nutritious foods and healing plant medicines. We will discuss the importance of protecting the habitat and the plant communities along the river, plants' lifecycles, proper identification and safety, sustainable harvesting methods, and plant uses and preparation methods. You may also choose to sample some of the wild greens as we venture along the river path. Please bring a water bottle to wash samples you may want to taste as we go.

I am a registered dietitian and community nutrition educator, and have been leading workshops in Vermont on edible wild plants and herbal healing for more than 15 years.

This workshop is open to adults, and their children ages 8 and up.

Children may attend with an accompanying parent/adult at half price.

Workshop fee; $15. - $30. sliding scale. This workshop is a benefit for Laura Brown, the proprietor of Purple Shutter Herbs, to assist in her recovery from cancer.
