Face masks and social distancing will be required to keep everyone safe. SVA has a current limit of 10 people at inside events, so per-registration is required. Call or email to reserve a spot. (802-884-8052, davidmook@aol.com,) Guests will be limited depending on the number who sign up. Protocol details are listed below and must be followed. We can do this!
Bonus -- a wonderful exhibit is on display in the gallery.
Glorious Mutualism: An exploration of regenerative biodiversity: Plant/animal/human
Paintings, drawings, collage, prints, and sculpture by a dozen artists explore the world of regenerative biodiversity that include the vast, yet often hidden, interrelationships between plants, animals, and humans. "The artwork speaks to life as a perpetually mysterious regenerative evolution. The art speaks to fragile connections." Erika Schmidt
Speaking of connections... Poets, you are invited to participate in an Ekphrastic poetry event! Write a poem inspired by a work from Glorious Mutualism. Your response to the art may include vivid description, commentary, imaginative leaps such as creating narrative or dialogue, giving voice to the subject, or even to the artist. The SVA gallery is open Sundays 1:00-4:00. Come by and choose a work of art to inspire your poem. Take notes, take a picture, go back to your writing space and take your time to generate an ekphrastic poem. The title itself, Glorious Mutualism, feels exciting to explore in writing! Then participate in a public reading in the SVA Gallery on Sunday, August 2, at 2:00 pm.
Protocol for SVA Open Mic:
1. pre-registration to ensure that there is a total of 10 people or less
2. only people who are free of symptoms of respiratory illness may enter SVA
3. everyone stops at the hand sanitizing station on the way in or washes with soap and water in the bathrooms
4. everyone wears masks
5. everyone stays 6 feet apart
6. host/instructor collects the names and contact info for everyone who comes into SVA (for contact tracing if necessary) but avoid passing around a sign-in sheet as multiple people would be touching it one after another
7. the host/instructor needs to take the VOSHA training and fill out and save the certificate showing they've done that
8. the instructors and board members who attend sanitize all frequently touched surfaces at the end of the evening (doorknobs, light switches, etc., bathrooms included)*
Looking forward to seeing your faces and hearing your voices!
