-----

MRVARI is a discussion group that provides The Mad River Valley a forum for anyone interested in the issue of racial inequity in our society. We discuss white privilege, racism in Vermont, the roles we play in white supremacy, and avenues we as individuals and a community can take towards a more just world.

Many of us acknowledge the problem of racism, yet don't feel empowered to do much about it. This can be especially true in a community like ours, where there are very few people of color. Maybe we feel like it's not our place, or that we might unintentionally make things worse. Yet learning about our own embedded assumptions is a powerful and much-needed first step in beginning the process of lending a hand.
