South End Community Food Pickup This Saturday

Past event
Jun 20, 2020, 10 to 11 AM

Dear Neighbors,

The second South End Community Food Pickup is THIS SATURDAY from 10 to 11am (while supplies last) in the Champlain Elementary parking lot. Due to the overwhelming demand at the first pickup in May, we are doubling the number of bags of groceries and gift cards and expanding the food staples in each reusable cloth grocery bag. We will also have masks on hand made by many community volunteers and coordinated by the City of Burlington Resource and Recovery Center. Emer Feeney, Assistant Director at the Fletcher Free Library, will be at the event with books for all ages.

Anyone in need is welcome and encouraged to come by on Saturday morning.

This event is possible due to the amazing financial and in-kind support from City Market, Great Harvest Bread Company, Myer's Bagels, Feldman's Bagels, Burlington Bagel, Champlain Chocolates and Cheese and Wine Traders and the amazing support from Shannon Jackson, a Ward 6 resident, and Vermont Director for Friends of Bernie Sanders as well as a number of generous South End neighbors and many volunteers.

Caroline Aubry, the Membership Manager from City Market will be on hand to help get the word out about City Market's Food for All program, which is a free discount program for eligible Vermonters who receive 3SquaresVT, WIC, SSI, or SSDI. This program gives shoppers a 15% discount in produce and bulk and a 10% discount on all their shopping store wide for a whole year.

For anyone who would like to donate to the event, we are gladly accept a tax-deductible check of any amount made payable to the City of Burlington

We will look forward to seeing you on Saturday morning.

My best,
Karen
