Message from our City Council colleagues in the south end:
The second South End Community Food Pickup will be this coming Saturday, June 20 from 10 to 11 a.m. while supplies last in the Champlain Elementary parking lot. Due to the overwhelming demand at the first pickup in May, we are doubling the number of bags of groceries and gift cards and expanding the food staples each in reusable grocery bags. We will have masks on hand made by many community volunteers and coordinated by the City of Burlington Resource and Recovery Center.
Anyone in need is welcome and encouraged to come by on Saturday morning.
This event is possible due to the amazing financial and in-kind support from City Market, Great Harvest Bread Company, Myer's Bagels, and Cheese Traders and the amazing support from Shannon Jackson, a Ward 6 resident, and Vermont Director for Friends of Bernie Sanders as well as the generosity of many South End neighbors.
For anyone who would like to donate to the event, we are gladly accept a tax-deductible check of any amount made out the City of Burlington, c/o Burlington Resource and Recovery Center (South End Community Food Pickup). We will look forward to seeing you on Saturday morning.
