Peace & Justice Center is collaborating with the Refugee Outreach Club to rally against racism.
"We have a MORAL OBLIGATION to use our WHITE PRIVILEGE to DISMANTLE RACISM and fight for RACIAL JUSTICE".
"Join us this Saturday, June 13th to stand up in solidarity with Black lives against racism in our community at this student-led protest. In the midst of ongoing national protests we are calling on Vermonters to continue to stand up and take action to call for the defunding of Vermont police departments and to honor George Floyd and the countless other victims of police brutality.
Even though Vermont is often thought of as a liberal state, overt, covert, and systemic racism still persist within our community. (https://www.facebook.com/permalink.php?story_fbid=2598561327139697&id=100009575645808) We must stand together to demand reparations and fight for a just future.
We will gather on the sidewalk adjacent to the dollar general store on Prim Road in Colchester, Vermont (parking in surrounding lots) where we will hear from speakers and then march as a group past the Hoagie Hut (see link above) before returning to our starting place to hear more speakers. If you would like to attend but would prefer not to leave your car, please arrive early and park where you can hear the speakers!"
Masks are a requirement at this event to help keep our community safe. Please respect social distancing.
Bring signs, energy, and solidarity!
