The Rebel and the Tory: A Conversation with the Authors
Thursday, June 18th 12 pm Join historians and authors Nick Muller and Gary Shattuck for a conversation about their new VHS publication, "The Rebel and the Tory: Ethan Allen, Philip Skene, and the Dawn of Vermont"

The Ejectment Trials of 1770 are considered a critical inflection point in American history, but no historian has ever read the transcripts—until now. Using previously unseen colonial court documents, authors John Duffy, Nicholas Muller, and Gary Shattuck shine a fresh light on the 200-year-old origin story of Vermont and capture the nuance often missing from the tale. They also restore Philip Skene, who schemed with Ethan Allan to create a new colony, to his rightful place at the center of Vermont History.
