ATTENTION SUNDERLAND RESIDENTS! A great way to take pride in our town is for individuals and families to participate in Vermont's annual GREEN UP VERMONT Day. On Saturday, May 30th, from 9am to 12 noon, volunteers will pick up trash and litter from Town roads.
Green Up Day is a special day in Vermont when thousands of volunteers get involved in a community-wide spring clean up of roadside litter. It is the largest statewide volunteer event in Vermont with over 22,500 taking part, and the longest running statewide Green Up Day in the United States.
Volunteers, please sign up in advance by calling Sunderland coordinator, Jeff Dexter, (802-430-7078) giving him the names of volunteers, your phone number and what streets you will be cleaning the litter & trash from.
Large, state-issued, heavy-duty trash bags can be picked up at Town Hall, 104 Mountain View Road on Green Up Day, May 30th, from 8am to 12noon. Please take sealed up, trash-filled bags to the Town Garage (left side parking area). The Garage is located on the corner of Hill Farm Road and Sunderland Hill Road.
Due to Covid-19, organizers are urging volunteers to use common-sense social distancing. Clean-up safety is also very important. Please be conscious of moving vehicles on your clean-up roads at all times. Also, if possible, please wear a brightly colored shirt to distinguish yourself while on the sides of the road.
