Green Up Day is going forward on May 30th, as was announced a few weeks ago. We are excited to be able to carry on this important Vermont tradition, especially since this is the 50th anniversary of the creation of Green Up Day! Now that being said, it will surprise nobody that this year's Green Up efforts will look very different than previous years. I'm going to share some information here from the state Green Up leadership on this year's protocols.
If you have COVID symptoms or are caring for a person who has COVID symptoms or have tested positive for COVID please stay home. If you are returning from out of State remember you need to self isolate for 14 days. If you are in this group please do not come to this event.
First off, BAGS: You will be able to pick up bags from one of several sites around town - Village Green, Legion Field, and the Municipal Offices. We ask that when you go to pick up your bags, you wear a mask and gloves, and maintain distance from others who are not from your household. We also ask that folks not congregate at any of the pickup points.
Next, COLLECTION: This part shouldn't be too difficult, as Green Up is usually an activity people engage with alone or in small groups, but to be clear - please do not go out in groups of more than 5, unless you all live in the same household. When collecting, we also ask that you continue to wear your mask and gloves.
Finally, DROP-OFF: This will be one of the most important parts to get right. We will have a town truck parked by the Village Green in the afternoon from 2-3PM. PLEASE STAY IN YOUR CARS WHEN YOU COME TO DROP OFF COLLECTED BAGS. Have all bags tied shut and in the trunk or back of your vehicle. We will have a masked and gloved volunteer to collect your bags and place them in the truck for you. Please also respect the space of other vehicles in the roundabout. We will do our best to get everyone through this part quickly, but safety of all involved is our primary concern.
To repeat: If you have COVID symptoms or are caring for a person who has COVID symptoms or have tested positive for COVID please stay home. If you are returning from out of State remember you need to self isolate for 14 days. If you are in this group please do not come to this event.
Green Up Day will look very different this year, but we will do everything we can to live up to everyone's expectations for the event. We hope you'll take this opportunity to get out and enjoy the warmer weather while keeping our community clean. And above all, stay safe and healthy!
