Over the last century, Town Forests in Vermont have provided many public benefits for our communities, including public spaces to enjoy nature and recreate, wildlife habitat, water quality, and conservation education, among other benefits. They do so while being flexible, accessible public resources to our communities and navigating substantial challenges as differing uses and management philosophies collide. Join Ethan Tapper, the Chittenden County Forester, for a general discussion of how to navigate the challenges associated with the management of Town Forests, from planning and outreach to implementation and follow-up. We will also discuss and how to manage these public resources to increase understanding of forests and forestry in your community
