In the last month, our fundraising efforts have raised over $6,000 for the New North Food Pantry. The NNE Pantry has given out 200... 200 gift cards to our local Hannaford's for $25 each. Thank you.
However, it's the end of the month, again. Yet, this month, courtesy of two BHS organizations and their leaders: Burlington Seahorse Pride, the Burlington Athletic Department, Jeanne Holson, BHS Athletic Director, and Jeff Hayes, BHS, we have free eggs, free milk, & free bread. Yes, again.
These last few weeks, we did what we could to change the course of this virus. We have adjusted to our new normal whether we recovered from the virus itself or its effects on those we love, or worked from home for the first time, or we isolated ourselves from our loved ones to protect them, or we transformed our homes into makeshift schools and social-support systems for our children, all Burlingtonians, strike that, all Vermonters should be proud of our accomplishments thus far.
Our level of discipline and deference to public-health recommendations will no doubt yield unprecedented results that will show how a community can rally during a pandemic towards the long and complicated recovery process. I have no doubt that we will succeed.
I write to inform you that, since our last fundraiser for the New North End Food Pantry, that raised $6,000, local BHS organizations, have stepped-up to help us feed our neighbors once again.
This Saturday April 25th, from 9 am until 11, come to New North End Food Pantry (located in the back of 1416 North Avenue) where we will handout free grocery bags on a first-come first-serve basis. Each bag will have a carton of eggs, a gallon of milk, and at least one loaf of bread, cereal, English muffins, & Domino's pizza coupons, for about 100 recipients.
Thank you to our community partners for stepping up & giving back & helping put food on the table for your neighbor. *If you are interested in sponsoring this grocery-relief program next month, please email me or call Dave Hartnett at (802) 233-0456.*
Sincerely,
Franklin Paulino (North District City Councilor), with Dave Hartnett (Former Burlington City Councilor and Community Organizer).
