Dr. Alan Betts of Atmospheric Research in Pittsford, VT will discuss the uncertainties in what will happen to our
global climate and whether we will show the collective imagination, vision, and resistance to create a sustainable future. After the event a recording will be made available.
Alan Betts is Vermont's leading climate scientist. He is a frequent speaker on climate change issues around the state and has worked on climate change adaptation planning for Vermont. He is a Weekly Planet columnist for the
Rutland Herald and Barre-Montpelier Times-Argus. His radio and TV appearances are featured on his website, alanbetts.com.
Alan Betts is a Fellow of the American Geophysical Union, American Meteorological Society (AMS), Royal Meteorological Society, American Association for the Advancement of Science, and a past-president of the Vermont Academy of Science and Engineering (VASE). He has authored more than 175 reviewed papers in the scientific literature, and was the first recipient (in 2016) of the Bert Bolin Global Environmental Change Award from the American Geophysical Union.
