Preview of April 13 Council Virtual Meeting

Dear Neighbors,

As we continue to live under these trying times, I do hope you and your families are well, safe and doing your best under the Stay Home order. Many in our community are struggling, financially, balancing many extreme circumstances and are working to adjust all the disruptions from COVID. Still, there are so many front-line workers, some with initials after their names and others who often go under-appreciated. The only request these workers make is that they go to work for us and all we need to do for them is stay home and stay safe.

Given the Governor's Executive Order this morning, with the Stay Home order extended to May 15, virtual meetings will become our norm for the next several weeks, if not longer.

This coming Monday, April 13, is the second of three Council meetings for the month of April.

The meeting will be entirely remote and virtual. There are several ways to tune in and watch and participate:
1. You can watch on YouTube or on Burlington Telecom Channel 317.
The YouTube link is: https://bit.ly/34vGH8O
2. You can join via Zoom: https://zoom.us/j/794415430
3. You can call in for audio only: the phone number is 312-626-6799 webinar ID 794 415 430

We have two resolutions on our deliberative agenda. One is calling on the Governor to halt F-35 practice flights and mobilize the full Vermont Guard to help us in stopping the spread of the COVID pandemic. The second resolution is an update on the City's Emergency Leave Policy which relates directly to the COVID virus. Included in this new policy, the City will provide for up to 25 days paid leave for employees under various circumstances including an employee experiencing symptons of COVID-19 and other additional emergency situations.

There will be an opportunity to participate in the public forum. We had some difficulties with the public forum form at the April 6 meeting, so we are working to get a better process. If you go to https://go.boarddocs.com/vt/burlingtonvt/Board.nsf/Public, the link to the form will be posted this weekend. If can get you the link posted on FPF before the meeting, I will do so.

We hope you will join us virtually for this important meeting.

I hope you have a good weekend. Please keep in mind that the parks are open for recreating while distancing as well as the City's walking trails, bike path and waterfront park. As well, the Shared Streets for Social Distancing. Please check out this link for further information: https://www.burlingtonvt.gov/dpw/covid-19/shared-streets

As always, I welcome your questions and concerns so please be in touch.

My best,
Karen
