Every other year, the Lanpher Library hosts a Poetry Slam. The Varnum Library in Jeffersonville (our Slam Sister library) is taking the even years so that our communities can have a Slam every single year during April's National Poetry Month.
Here is the info. on the creative way the Varnum Library is planning the Slam!
Varnum's Virtual Poetry Slam!
Here's how it works-
Participants send in a video of your own original poem. Poem length is a maximum of 3-4 minutes. The deadline is noon April 20, 2020. (That's just 2 weeks folks!) A panel of 5 Socially Distanced judges, possibly in there pajamas, will rank each poem. The poem with the most points wins! There will be 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners. If we get an avalanche of poetry, we can always dream, there may be more winners. Hooray! Winners will be announced April 30.
Parents get your kids to enter. Kids get your parents and grandparents to enter. Dare each other. Challenge each other. Inspire each other. Have fun with poetry.
RULES:
All poems/videos must be originals and not exceed 3-4 minutes in length. Good news is there is no minimum length!
Videos do not need to filmed with special cameras or include any fancy edits – we welcome all videos, however homemade! If you have a phone just flick to selfie mode and start recording. Don't stress yourself. Hit record and express yourself!
So, after you record, download your video to your Google Drive and share it with the Varnum's Poetry People email: beyondtheyellowdoor@gmail.com
Please label the videos of your poems with:-
your name
the poem's title
the town you're from
Include a transcript of your poem with your submission.
