True Confessions from a Neighbor

The last few days have been rather challenging (that's all I'll say), but surprisingly, every evening when I settle in to read a bit more of selections of writing by Rowland Evans Robinson (Ferrisburgh, VT, 1833-1900), I'm transported to a very peaceful and gently entertaining place. This weekend, Rokeby Museum is hosting a program with the Ferrisburgh Historical Society all about this amazingly observant and talented writer with 13 books to his name. He wrote of nature -- and it's all local, so you'll recognize places; of people and community -- some say he set his fictitious characters in Lincoln; and history -- all about Vermont. Feel free to attend, and if you can't but are curious, email director@rokeby.org and we'll send you a sampler of pieces to read with links to the selections on-line. Come the summer, visit Rokeby and we'll show you where he lived and wrote. Guided tours of the historic Robinson home are Thursdays through Mondays at 11a.m and 2 p.m. The program will be held in the Education Center at Rokeby Museum, 4334 US Rte 7, Ferrisburgh.
