Get ready for spring projects by signing up for the Hannaford Career Center's (HCC) Basic Carpentry Skills Course. Taught by Lee McGinley, Master Carpenter, you'll cover tool selection and use, material and fastener choices, project layout and planning. There will be a continuous demonstration of drywall repair. Most important: you'll be able to present your own projects for review and recommendations, and you'll leave the course with a set of sawhorses that you assemble. Lee teaches the course with demonstrations, handouts, and lots of Q and A.
Class meets Mondays from 6 PM to 8 PM at HCC, next to the Middlebury High School, and runs for 6 weeks starting March 30. Enrollment is limited to 10. Fee is $132, which includes sawhorse materials. The course fills quickly, so register soon. For the duration of the course, you'll have free access to HCC's The Makery where you can work on shop-based projects and use their stationary equipment.
To enroll directly: call Denise Senesac at 802.382.1004. HCC takes cash, checks and credit cards. No debit cards. For more information: email Lee at mcginley@gmavt.net.
