An mtDNA Find Proves a Mayflower Line Saturday, March 7, 2020
Knowing whom to ask for a specific DNA sample and which test to use makes a difference in analyzing results. Michael Dwyer will show how mtDNA solved the mystery of an ancestor married in 1776. Without DNA evidence, her identity would have been lost to history. He will also share other works in progress using other DNA test results.
Michael Dwyer is a Fellow of the American Society of Genealogists and editor of Vermont Genealogy. Classes run from 10:30 to noon and cost $10.00. We are open for research Tuesdays 3 to 9:30 p.m. and Saturdays from 10 to 4. The library is located on Hegeman Ave, Fort Ethan Allen, Colchester. Researching Your Irish Ancestors Tuesday, March 10, 2020
The VT Genealogy Library and the Burlington Irish Heritage Festival are hosting a presentation by Ed McGuire, "Researching Your Irish Ancestors." The talk includes a brief history of Irish immigration to North America and discussion of some of the major resources for Irish genealogy research - online, locally and in Ireland.
This talk 90-minute talk is free and open to the public. We will have refreshments. Feel free to stay after to start your research.
