Lacto-fermented foods are coming back into the social consciousness for their simplicity and probiotic benefits, and they are easy to make right in your own home. Rachel Smith, owner of Pin Up Pickles, will lead this hands-on presentation at the Bayside Activity Center. Learn how you can make your own fermented vegetables and drinks which can be easily personalized to your tastes. Examples include: half sours, sauerkraut, kimchi, kombucha, ginger bug, and more! We'll talk about starting small, but with the techniques learned in this course, participants will be able to scale recipes simply with supplies and containers most people already have in their homes. Everyone will leave with at least one jar of food beginning the fermentation process and with a handout on the basic process, background, and recipes.
