The Addison County River Watch Collaborative spring training for volunteers takes place at the Addison County Regional Planning Commission in Middlebury, 9:00-11:30am on Saturday, March 21, followed by a guided field trip to Meeting Place Pastures organically pastured cattle and sheep farm in Cornwall from 12:00-1:30pm. The Farm Visit will include information about Required Agricultural Practices, many of which are in place to protect water quality.
Some details: local bagels and locally roasted coffee served starting at 8:30; training in standard water quality sampling methods as well as new methods and parameters including turbidity tube sampling and chloride (salt) sampling; new volunteer opportunities such stormwater sampling on Lewis Creek and a special canoe-trip sampling outing on the Lemon Fair River.
