Cultivate Your Appreciation for Good Poetry by Listening to David Huddle April 23
Morristown Centennial Library is pleased to announce that poet, author, and educator David Huddle will visit the library on April 23 at 7 pm. His presentation is entitled “The Stream That Goes Beside Me”, an idea borrowed from former Vermont State poet Ruth Stone. Both he and Ms. Stone see their poetry as this stream, and their job is to write it down when it speaks to them, as they go about their life’s tasks.

With spring bringing new life to the natural world, learning how to pay attention to this stream may help us appreciate how our lives are unfolding. Listening to poetry is a good place to start this process!

David Huddle is from Ivanhoe Virginia and has lived in Vermont for 42 years, He has taught at the University of Vermont, Middlebury College, Goddard College, the Bread Loaf School of English, and presently at Johnson State College. Morristown Centennial Library has two of David’s books of poetry: Grayscale, written in 2004 and Blacksnake at the Family Reunion, published in 2013 and his 2011 book, Nothing Can Make Me Do This. Stop in and sample some of his work, enrich your appreciation of words and human experience and be sure to hear him in person!
