Visiting Artist: Oliver Herring

Join us for a slide talk with visiting artist Oliver Herring in the Lowe Lecture Hall.

Oliver Herring was born in Heidelberg, Germany in 1964. He received a BFA from the University of Oxford, Ruskin School of Drawing and Fine Art, in England, and a MFA from Hunter College, in New York. His work has been the subject of solo exhibitions at the Museum of Modern Art; the Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden; MIT's List Visual Arts Center; the Contemporary Arts Museum, in Houston; the Institute of Contemporary Art, in Philadelphia; Frye Art Museum, in Seattle; and the Museum of Contemporary Art, in Cleveland, among many others. In 2009, the Tang Museum at Skidmore College featured Me Us Them, a 15-year survey of Herring's work curated by Ian Berry. His TASK performances and parties have been held at museums, universities, and other spaces all over the world. In 2005, Herring was featured on the PBS program Art 21. Oliver lives and works in Brooklyn.
