This is a public hearing for the community to learn about the NEK Community Broadband communications union district (CUD). The purpose of the CUD is to bring high-speed, reliable internet to all E911 residences in the NEK. The town of Saint Johnsbury, along with 26 other towns in the NEK will have an opportunity to vote to join the CUD on town meeting day March 3, 2020.
Residents of Saint Johnsbury and all surrounding towns are encouraged to attend! Come learn about the upcoming Article 28 question on the Saint Johnsbury Town Meeting Day ballot at the second informational hearing in Saint Johnsbury. Voting "YES" on Article 28 will support Saint Johnsbury in joining in a community effort to bring better quality broadband services to the entire NEK.
Residents of the surrounding 26 towns on the map shown will have a similar ballot question (with a different article number) on their ballot for Town Meeting Day. Many of the questions that people ask us are relevant regardless of what town you are in, so this meeting is not exclusive to St Johnsbury residents.
