Wind Power Forum

Past event
Apr 13, 2014, 2 to 4:30 PM

On Sunday, April 13, 2014 the Starksboro Conservation Commission will be hosting a community discussion/forum on wind power. The forum will be at the Library from 2:00 to 4:30 pm.

We, the Commission, have found a desire to reach a better understanding of how wind power facilities may in the future intersect with our town. This wind power forum constitutes a good-faith effort to satisfy our curiosity about a renewable energy technology that is growing in Vermont. The driving force behind this is that wind power in Vermont has moved past the experimental phase and there is a large amount of data present, and being generated, on all sides of the wind power issue. We are choosing to be pro-active so that we can perhaps be less reactive should wind power facilities be proposed in our township. It seems a relatively small effort to look ahead now so that we might maximize the possible benefits and minimize the possible drawbacks of hosting wind towers in the future, if that is to be the case.

We are presenting the following speakers:
Mark Whitworth of Energize Vermont
John Miller engineer at Renewable NRG Systems
Nirmegh Leggett of Peak Keepers

The forum will be a moderated by Robert Turner.

Refreshments will be served between the presentations and the discussion period.

Please join us for a thoughtful discussion.
Dave
