Class: Interpreting DNA Ethnicity Maps

Past event
Feb 22, 2020, 10:30 AM to 12 PM

The Vermont Genealogy Library is hosting a talk on understanding DNA ethnicity tests at their library in Fort Ehtan Allen.
In this talk you will discover how DNA ethnicity maps are generated and what you can learn from yours.

We will discuss the accuracy of tests from the four biggest companies and compare the results from each one. You will learn why siblings' results can vary – even when tested by the same company.

We will also identify the ways that some companies move beyond what your individual DNA says about your origins to help you locate communities, recent and ancient, that share many characteristics with your ancestors.

The talk will begin at 10:30 AM on Saturday, Feb. 22d, and last about 90 minutes. The fee is $10, it includes a handout and a Q&A session at the end. For directions go to: www.vtgenlib.org/general/directions.php or call us at (802) 350-1333.
