Free Daylong Conference on Education

Norwich University will host the Spring 2020 Education Conference on Thursday, March 19 from 8:30 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.

The day consists of four blocks of three concurrent sessions led by Norwich University professors and education experts on a wide variety of topics ranging from video creation and application to teaching students who are refugees.

This conference is free for teachers, administrators, instructional assistants, specialists, and high school seniors interested in pursuing a career in education. Registration ends Friday, March 6, 2020. Professional development hours will be awarded. To register, please email conference organizer Professor Rommy Fuller at rfuller1@norwich.edu.

Participants are asked to bring lunch, which can also be bought on campus in the dining hall.

Opening Remarks and Keynote Speaker, 9-9:45

Concurrent Session Block 1, 10-10:45 a.m.:

- Transcendental Meditation for Educators and their Students (Dr. Carole Bandy)
- Should Learning be Brain-Based or Psychology-Based? (Dr. Mark Stefani)

Concurrent Session Block 2, 11-11:45 a.m.

- The Psychology of Positivity (Professor John Dulmage, Ari Mortenson, Doug Aigner)
- Developing Partnerships with Students to Create Meaningful Systems of Personalized Learning (Arik Mortenson)
- Typologies of Trauma in Refugee Students: Implications for Refugee Students (Doug Aigner)

Concurrent Session Block 3, 12:45-1:30 p.m.:

- Hands On Tech (Makers' Space, Robots and FUN, Oh my!) (Patricia Aigner)
- Creating Inclusive Learning Environments for LGBTQ+ Learners (Mara Iverson, Outright Vermont)
- Pedagogical Approaches to Effective Technology Integration (Faith Hester-Reyes, Justin Marriott)

Concurrent Session Block 4, 1:45-2:30:

- Recess a Better Way (Professor Scott Maxham)
- Creating Inclusive Learning Environments for LGBTQ+ Learners (Mara Iverson, Outright Vermont)
- Developing Personalized Learning Systems (Don Taylor)
