Invitation to Lamoille Broadband Conference

Past event
Feb 27, 2020, 6 to 8 PM

On Thursday, February 27th, the LCPC will be holding a broadband conference with a focus on Communication Union Districts. Please R.S.V.P. by Monday, February 24th to Lea Kilvadyova at lea@lcpcvt.org or 851-6348. Thank you and we hope to see you on the 27th!

Over the past six months, resident groups from Belvidere, Eden, Wolcott, Waterville, Hyde Park, Cambridge and Johnson have been working with the Lamoille County Planning Commission to evaluate the availability of high speed internet in their communities, meet with internet service providers, and study examples of successful broadband deployment in rural Vermont.

On Thursday, February 27th, the LCPC will be holding a broadband discussion with a focus on Communication Union Districts - one possible model for broadband deployment. Additionally, our panelists will answer participants' questions about other paths to improve broadband, such as through creating a Rural Economic Development Infrastructure District.

To make the best of the discussion, we kindly ask that community representatives come prepared to speak about the broadband situation in their community, options that the community has considered, what is motivating you to work on this issue and what the community's greatest uncertainties for broadband deployment are.

Refreshments will be provided.

Agenda: 6:00 Introductions Panel Discussion: panelists will provide a statutory overview of Communication Union Districts, present the EC Fiber case study, and provide a statewide overview of community broadband efforts.

Chris Campbell of Tilson Technologies Rob Fish from the Department of Public Service Representative from the East Central Vermont Telecommunication District (EC Fiber). 680-8.00 Questions and Answers
