Community Sledding Party, Snowshoe and Trail Run

Past event
Feb 22, 2020, 1 to 4 PM

The Norwich University Shaw Outdoor Center and community partners are hosting a Sledding Party, Snowshoe and Trail Run on February, 22nd from 1-4pm. There will be a warming bonfire and hot cocoa to enjoy up on the hill! Come out and play in this beautiful winter weather. This is a free event, open to all ages. We love dogs but please leave them at home. If you prefer to ski, you're welcome to enjoy some turns and then come warm-up by the fire!

Trail Run: The trail run group will depart from the Shaw Center at 1pm. The plan is to run 3-4 miles and finish up at the sledding party and bonfire. This will be a conversationally paced run. Most likely traction devices will not be necessary but bring them if you have them just in case.

Sledding Info: The sledding hill is about a 3/4 mile hike up from the Shaw Center. The Brown Public Library is hosting a self-guided Storywalk® to entertain your kids on the hike up! A guided walk up will depart from the Shaw Center promptly at 1:00. There will be trail markings for those who arrive later and want to hike up independently.

Snowshoe: For those not into sledding, a guided snowshoe will also depart at 1pm from the Shaw Center. The hike will conclude at the sledding hill where the bonfire and cocoa are located. If you'd like to join, but don't own snowshoes, the Shaw Center will have pairs available to lend. There are also several pairs available to check-out from the Brown Public Library.
