Middlebury Union Middle School will be hosting the 2013 Youth Risk Behavior Survey Dialog Night on Thursday, April 10th from 6:00 to 7:30 PM in the Cafeteria. The YRBS is given to middle school and high school students every 2 years. It asks questions about bullying, safety, drug use, nutrition, and technology use. The State of Vermont released the results in January.
A group of 15 students attended a half-day conference to analyze the MUMS data. We want to share our findings in a dialog format. The idea is to have groups of students and adults from the community meet to talk about the data, celebrate our strengths and develop action plans for improvement. The students will be the leaders in this forum, since it is their data, and we want to empower them to make the changes. As adults, our job is to listen and support them.
All MUMS students are invited and encouraged to attend. All parents and other interested adults are also invited and encouraged to attend, but family members will not be grouped together. The idea is to talk to students/parents other than your own for the evening. Light refreshments will be served.
