As you may know, the Conservation Commission has been working with the Vermont Land Trust, and landowner Sally Laughlin (and the late Peter Krusch) to establish a Town Nature Preserve. There will be three Articles about this project at Town Meeting on March 3rd (see below). If you are interested in learning more about the proposed Peter A. Krusch Nature Preserve before Town Meeting, please join us for a slideshow and discussion at the Fire Station Meeting Room on Monday 24th February at 7pm. Please do not park in the Fire Station parking lot in case that is needed for an emergency. Please bring your friends, neighbors, and your questions.
Articles for Town Meeting:
Article 11. Shall the Town authorize the Selectboard to expend funds from the Conservation Reserve Fund to acquire approximately 51 acres of land with frontage on North Cambridge Road, and abutting the Cambridge Pines State Forest, to establish the Peter A. Krusch Nature Preserve for recreation and conservation purposes?
Article 12. Shall the Town convey a conservation easement on the 51 acres of land comprising the Peter A. Krusch Nature Preserve to the Vermont Land Trust and the Vermont Housing and Conservation Board? [then make sure it's consered and yes, the easement would be held jointly by both parties]
Article 13. Shall the Town raise and appropriate the sum of $20,000 to the Conservation Reserve Fund?
